Boosting your child’s Immunity

Nothing pains a parent more seeing their child down with fever, cold or coughing and falling prey to various infectious diseases. Its true!! We as parents are aware of the balanced diet that we need to provide to our kids. While we do our best to take care of the nutritional needs, we can also include some super foods to supercharge the child’s immunity.
There is an exclusive bunch of super foods that child’s immunity system needs:
1. Vegetable: Yes, vegetables can be tasty too. They are helpful for your growing child. They help in DNA repair. They are the wonderful Immunity Booster. Some of the vegetables are rich in Iron, Zinc and Folic acid such as spinach and fenugreek leaves. They are rich in antioxidants and has some traces of vitamins in it. Kids should be persuaded to eat these veggies in any form whether boiled, stir fry, raw or baked. If your kid love pasta, then you can incorporate those veggies into the dish.
2. Yogurt-A power food: Yogurt always come to a rescue. It strengthens the intestinal tracts of the children and prevents the gastrointestinal illnesses. If your child does not like the plain one, you can try the various flavored options. Don’t think it’s cold and you should not give it to your kid but whether its cold or hot outside, yogurt is very important for our body as it is a probiotic that fights the bad bacteria in the stomach. So its very important to include yogurt in any form to your kids like plain yogurt, buttermilk and raita.
3. Carrots: I remember my grandma saying to eat carrot as it is good for the eyes. It is an excellent source of beta carotene and that is why it is bright red in color and helps to fight infections and helps in maintaining sharp eyesight. Carrot makes it difficult for the bacteria to enter the bloodstream and keeps the infection away from you. The bright red color of the carrot can make your job much easier.
4. Mushrooms: Yes, you heard it right, Mushrooms too are good for health as it is the next best thing to chicken. It is rich in zinc and other mineral nutrients. It is one of the richest sources of vitamin D and also helps in the detoxification of Liver. It also helps in the boosting of the Immune system
5. Almonds: My child is not fond of Almonds at all, but I make sure I try to give him in any form possible. They are packed with Vitamin E and Manganese and these two acts as a natural immunity booster.
6. Fish: For all the non-vegetarian families, Fish can’t be ruled out. They are rich in Omega 3 fats. Not only these fats help in the brain development, but it also reduces the inflammation which increase the airflow and protects the lungs from cold and other respiratory diseases. The latest research indicates that the fatty acids can boost the immune system by enhancing the activities of the immune cells. Do not be upset if your child is not liking it. Just be patient as it will take some time for them to develop the taste.
Variety is key in keeping our immune systems strong as many different nutrients work to strengthen our immunity. These are top foods for keeping your kids’ immune systems strong.
